So You Are Going to Build a Playhouse? Great Guidelines to build a Playhouse.
Even if you are not a DIY expert, you’ll be able to build a playhouse without difficulty, quickly and at low costs. Here are top tips to build a playhouse.
So you want to build a playhouse? I remember the day our twin daughters returned from playing with the kids next door and began to plead for a playhouse “like theirs”. Great idea for a Birthday present I thought. I almost changed my mind when I saw how pricey they were in the local hardware store.
Now I don’t give up easily so I decided to build a playhouse myself. Although woodworking is not my strong point it was so much less complicated than I thought it would be and it didn’t cost nearly as much as you would think. How did I do that you ask?
Here are my top tricks for how to build a playhouse quickly, effortlessly and at low costs:
• Site
Before beginning the actual building of the playhouse, make a decision on its position as it is not easy to move a playhouse later on. Really it’s best if the space available is large enough for a playhouse for your kids and some chums to play in and to move around in a bit.
• Plan the Ground
Smooth ground is far better to build on and makes the playhouse more firm. If you want the playhouse to last more than a season or two, make sure that you have a foundation. This can either be a rock based with concrete poured over it or the playhouse can sit on levelled blocks.
• Acquire a Good Set of Plans
I’m so glad that I downloaded a professional set of playhouse plans. As well as instructions that were not at all difficult to follow, diagrams and cut charts, the plans included a materials list and tool list so that I knew what was essential to have down to the last screw. This obviously saved numerous trips to the hardware store and meant that I knew the costs for the project in advance.. Don’t build a playhouse without plans. The amount of time, tribulation and money I saved by having them was little short of amazing. I was also certain that my playhouse would be robust enough to stand up to all the abuse it was no doubt going to have to face.
I’m so happy that I made the decision to build a playhouse myself. This magical addition to our back garden has not only captured our kids’ imagination but is a magnet for other kids to come around and play (Is that a good thing?)
Moreover the playhouse is such an lovely addition to our outdoor landscape and even when the kids don’t want to play in it anymore, it will provide brilliant storage. Build a playhouse? What are you waiting for?
